Using CE mark or UKCA mark in the UK market

Many buyers or suppliers cannot confirm whether to continue to use the CE mark or the new UKCA mark, worrying that the use of the wrong order will affect customs clearance and thus bring trouble.

Previously, the UK official website on August 24, 2021 published the latest guidance on the use of the UKCA mark, “manufacturers can continue to use the CE mark on their products to enter the UK market until January 1, 2023. products on the UK market from January 1, 2023 must be marked with the UKCA mark in accordance with the relevant regulations “.

On 24 August 2021, the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy published an announcement which, in essence

An additional year of transition time for companies to start using the UKCA mark (the new product safety mark for the UK).

apply to all goods that would otherwise have been due to start using the UKCA Mark at the end of this year (2021).

The policy of a further extension of the transition period, due to the ongoing impact of the outbreak, enables companies to have more time to meet their compliance obligations.

The notice applies to the markets of England, Scotland and Wales, while Northern Ireland will continue to recognize the CE mark.

The UK government also reminds businesses that they must take action to ensure that they apply for the UKCA mark by 1 January 2023 (the deadline).

This extension means that all goods previously requiring CE marking will not need to use the UKCA mark until January 1, 2023.

In particular, note that medical device products are not required to use the UKCA mark until July 1, 2023.

See here, many people panic, that CE in this year will not be abolished?

Do not panic, this policy was later adjusted to some extent, the extension.

The UKCA product mark came into effect on 1 January 2021 and has been officially adopted as the conformity mark for telecoms products and other products entering the UK market. Currently, products entering the UK market before 31 December 2024 can still use the CE mark, i.e. products that meet the CE mark requirements when placed on the UK market before this date do not need to be re-assessed or certified under the UKCA.
