UAE will introduce new rules for the collection of fees on imported goods

According to Gulf , the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) has announced that the UAE will introduce new rules for the collection of fees on imported goods. All imports into the UAE must be accompanied by an invoice certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), effective February 1, 2023.

Starting in February, any invoices for international imports with a value of AED10,000 or more must be attested by MoFAIC.

MoFAIC will charge a fee of Dhs150 per invoice for imports of AED10,000 or more.

 

In addition, MoFAIC will levy a fee of AED 2,000 for certified commercial documents and AED 150 for each personal identification document, certified document or copy of invoice, certificate of origin, manifest and other related documents.

 

If the goods fail to certify the certificate of origin and invoice of imported goods within 14 days from the date of entry into the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will impose an administrative fine of Dhs500 on the respective individual or business. In case of repeated violations, additional fines will be imposed.

 

★ The following categories of imported goods are exempt from import certificate fees:

01、 Invoices worth less than 10,000 dirhams

02、Imports by individuals

03、Imports from the Gulf Cooperation Council

04、Free zone imports

05、 Police and military imports

06、Charitable institutions import
